It would be outstanding exposure for our program. Every football fan in the country would watch the game.

When Corliss signed, I increased it to 20,000. I could have had them set it at 30,000, and we would have sold out.

He was always ready to help and would make professional sacrifices when necessary to make sure that our program was well taken care of. He was greatly respected and had a special relationship with our student-athletes for more than four decades. He was a family friend and our children grew up together in the same neighborhood. He will be missed.

It is wonderful, ... Steve and Dan took professional football to a whole different level with the way they played the game. The fact that Steve is going in with Dan is very special.

There's no more pressure in any other coaching job in the country. Not everyone is cut out to coach football at Notre Dame. But I think Charlie is. That's why I think they eventually got the best person for the job even though there might have been some detours before it happened.
