It wasn't so much that Melissa wasn't shooting well, we had a difficult time even getting the ball inside to her. Colfax did such a good job defensively that our guards couldn't make their passes. And no one else shot well, either.

Our defense at the end made the difference for us. To hold a team as good as Zillah to 34 points, that was a big effort.

We're always saying, 'Play to the last buzzer,' and it came down to that. Zillah's a great team and they bring a lot of pressure. It took a lot of heart for our kids to handle that.

I think people who haven't seen her play and only look at stats, don't have a true picture of her. Stats don't tell the whole story. We didn't have one go-to player. We had a balanced team. She could have scored a lot more point if it had been our main goal to go to her. She is very much a team player.

We've been down a lot before, but we always managed to fight back. Our goal is to fight to the end of the game, and we did that. We just could come back on them.

There is nothing to be ashamed about. To get this far it was an incredible ride. These girls learned a lot about working together and caring about each other. Colfax is a great team, and they have a bunch of nice kids. That's what this whole experience is supposed to be about.
