It was something they could share with us about their cultures and it was easy for them to share. It was not like they were being interviewed.

We decided it would just be fun for everyone who was interested to get together and share a meal from different cultures and spend time together talking about whatever came up but the focus being on some kind of multicultural food and discussion and education.

The sharing of experiences around certain kinds of dishes would remind people of their own kinds of experiences around that one kind of dish.

I don't think they are, but it falls to us to make sure, as the citizens of Ontario, that this does not happen.
