It was so hard to leave the kids behind when their parents refused to go. These kids weren't old enough to make their own decisions about safety.

I was truly surprised at the lack of opposition. I thought we would hear from live-liners but we didn't. People know how bad it is and are willing to make a sacrifice to help out.

All the coaches from the two schools are friends and they called with the idea and we thought it would be a great chance to give exposure to a sport that doesn't normally get it. I'd never heard of something like this and I've been in high school cross country and track for a long time.
