It was nice to get the monkey off his back. He focused on the match and took it to him. Our game plan for that individual bout was what we wanted to do. It is up to the Fort Cherry wrestler to adjust now.

He's had a nice year. Last year, he had an injury and it affected him in the individual tourney. He needs to be healthy and in his best shape. He tried to wrestle with one hand after he hurt his upper arm and shoulder.

The most important thing was that I stayed focused and calm the whole match. I took some risks and it went for me.

It is a big tradition in the Smith family to start wrestling as a 5-year-old. Guy's dad is a youth coach and wrestling is a family tradition. He has let me and Guy develop a wrestling relationship together. We have spent a lot of time in the practice room and he is a great kid.

We will work on takedown and single leg attacks. Guy will work on more attacks. That's his style -- get in and get the points flowing. He will scramble to keep (an opponent) away from him. He has a cautious defensive system and that is our system. With his build, it is hard for him to be a counter wrestler. They are more compact and powerful.
