It was a process that certainly could have been better than it was months ago. I will hasten to add that we have taken steps to drastically improve that process.

The judges have full authority to exercise discretion. That's why they're there.

Nobody saw anyone being handcuffed. Officer Gant was moving into a position of cover. He was coming around a planter with a tree in it. His view was partially obstructed when the shot was fired. Sgt. Reed was in the arrest process.

If it was there, perhaps it dissipated.

You can't fire weapons in urban areas. It is an urban area. Certainly there are places in Davidson County that are extensively wooded. There also are large open fields in Davidson County. I would refer to that area in Bellevue at the movie theater as an urban area.

At this point in the investigation, there is no indication that he had anything to do with the murders of his wife and daughter.
