It seems like we always play second fiddle to some of the other schools around here. That's why this year we'd like to win region and maybe surprise some people.

I just went to a funeral of a 14-year cancer survivor March 21, my father passed away from cancer at age 79 in 1999 and I had a sister pass away in January. Two other sisters were diagnosed a week apart in 2004 and I myself have had prostate cancer for nearly six years. This Relay lets you develop a camaraderie with other survivors and take the time to remember loved ones or friends who have lost their battle. It also celebrates life.

Reading applications this year, I bet we've found 50 high schools at least that ranked a year ago that aren't ranking now.

Whether it is second or third depends on how Siberia reacts between now and the end of the year. 1998 was the warmest ever, 2005 is looking at being second. It will be another very warm year generally, which is in line with global climate change research.

It seems like I get my second wind by the end of the year. I've had a nice little break after my trip to Europe. I played one event and I saw my coach the next week, so I feel like I'm ready to finish strong. I really do.

We shouldn't be playing second fiddle to South Korea or anyone else,
