It needs to be taken a step further and written into law.

It certainly helps to raise the profile (of the issue) when someone from within (speaks out). Until now, it has just been us on the sidelines, doing our ankle-biting.

We're going to see more and more pressure to drill in people's backyards, and more sophisticated campaigns to challenge the drilling. That will create political pressure for the companies to implement creative technologies and be more cooperative in local communities. Ultimately, we need the right environment at the state level to allow local authority to regulate the surface impacts.

We are hopeful passengers are reasonable and understand this a law that needs to be enforced. We definitely expect some trials and tribulations.

The object of (Tuesday's) demonstration is repealing the law. There needs to be a lot of us, and we must go for the long haul since the parliamentary debate will take time.

There is no doubt that a lot of work needs to be done to update the law and this could be the first move into the right direction. But at the same time, a stronger policy and message of enforcement needs to be put into place.
