It is not required that we know all of the details about every stretch of the river. Indeed, were we to know, it would not be an adventure, and I wonder if there would be much point in the journey.

We have another chance to navigate, perhaps in a slightly different way than we did yesterday. We cannot go back. But we can learn.

The ability to tell a good route from a terrible one is a valuable skill when leading an expedition. Unfortunately for us all, it was a skill I did not possess.

Sam was the only member of the party who had not been over the river before. He had a strange feeling as the slow gurgling stream slipped by: his old life lay behind in the mists, dark adventure lay in front.

We are all in the same boat,
boat of life. Does not seem
to be a rudder with oarsman.
Perhaps my words may find a
path, path through currents and water
as we continue our journey on
river of life.

Whether we like it or not, we all come from someplace. And at some point in our lives, we have to make peace with that place.
