It is an initial appearance and plea hearing. This is when we will enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. Certainly conversations are taking place, so we can sharpen or focus on which options we shall select.

I continue to feel very pleased that we will have the opportunity to present the full truth.

We did not request the court date change nor did the federal government. I can only assume that the judge needed to adjust his calendar.

I conclude that there now is a combination of conditions that will reasonably assure the appearance of Dr. Lee as required and the safety of the community and the nation,

The hearing will go through the lunch hour and through the dinner hour if necessary and the judge gets really angry if you can't settle so there's a lot of pressure to reach an agreement. A magistrate judge will beat you to death to settle.

If you are confirmed, you will essentially disappear from public view. This hearing will, in some ways, be the last time that the nation will see you at work.
