It is 17 years since he held this lecture, and he had a lot of time to think about it. And so, [this] is a first time to talk about this discussion in Austria, which had been 17 years ago.

This lecture took place 17 years ago. He is an English citizen. He doesn't live in Austria and he is 68 years old. He is not really dangerous, especially not to Austria.

Irving had expected certain strictness by the court because he was a very well known case. But the sentence was too harsh. It became a bit of a (political) message trial and the message was too strong.

He'll most likely be found guilty, and he knows it. It's almost impossible for him to win - the case is a clear breach of the law on Holocaust denial.

I would say it's a bit of a message trial.

These countries must fulfill the conditions. In the eyes of our citizens, entry at the desired time can't be automatic.
