Investors and businessmen depend on the Government for the security of their property and therefore if the Government does not abide by the law, they might feel hopeless and relocate.

Business is very sensitive to poor governance. If we were to calculate opportunity cost, besides the direct loss in business terms of last week's conduct by our Government, it is not only KTN and The Standard that are counting huge losses.

Investors see nothing but sunny skies as far as the eye can see and therefore do not care one iota about risk. They are pursuing returns regardless of risk, and therefore the most speculative companies and investment classes are doing very well.

Investors want to see profitability now. Not two years from now.

It is important that the government has all its votes at its disposal this afternoon. The security of the nation comes first. No government can afford to take risks with the security of the country.

I don't want to be insensitive to legitimate concerns about security and smooth operation. There are legitimate reasons for government officials to withhold some information, but I'm not sure this is one of those situations. I just don't see what the urgent need for secrecy is for these numbers.
