In point of fact, one of the carriers that will be operating in the Pacific is an Atlantic Fleet carrier. That has not been done in a long time.

This summer we will see significant activity, including multiple carriers.

The ability to move these forces around more agilely, more rapidly, is the way that we will be operating in the future.

The challenges that I see at the high end are anti-submarine warfare. There are about 140 diesel submarines that operate in the Pacific. We, as a Navy, are good at anti-submarine warfare. We can always get better, and that's what we're doing because we have to be able to dominate that growing submarine capability.

It's a demonstration of our interest, our commitment to helping people in the region. It's going to areas where the assistance is needed.

We have not seen this level of aircraft carrier activity for a couple years. That number of aircraft carriers in the Pacific under way, in close proximity to each other, (hasn't happened) in 10 years.
