I'm going out into the work force. What is my Duke degree going to look like now? ... People already have ideas of what Duke students are like. It's just adding to the stereotype.

There are people in your classes who are capable of that kind of thing? I don't know if this school is ready to deal with the racial issues.

These people are not able to work, and it's validating to have someone buy your work. A couple of the artists have aspirations to build themselves a studio to do more work, full- or part-time. The talent is there to do it.

We're not going to try to force a vote unless we think we can win it.

Even though it's improving, there's still an awful lot of people who dropped out of work force and are waiting to be pulled back in.

I don't even have a loose shingle. There are people on this force who went to work on Monday morning and at the end of the day didn't have anything but what they were wearing.
