I'm glad Kanye said what he said on NBC. The president never gave a damn about black folks.

They were pretty open with me. These folks came in sure that because they are poor and black, they would be treated as second-class citizens. And they've had their eyes opened, ... They now tell me they can't believe how nice everyone treats them – even the police. They're saying they now want to stay in Texas.

If I gave a damn what other people think of me, I would be more like other people.

I'm glad that I was able to give them something, ... They gave my family so much.

You know, it's always going to be a fight. I feel honored to represent for my folks ... I'm glad [the voters] opened their eyes just a little bit.

The sad thing is that people are going to think this is a reflection of rap music. But it's not a reflection ... people have lives outside of the music.
