I'm a father, a grandfather, a teacher and a friend before I'm a coach. There's nothing more important to me than helping kids, and that's why I've never gone after a college job.

My father was kind of a local pillar of the community, a high-school teacher and football coach. He was always very politically knowledgeable because he was a social studies teacher. But in terms of his activism, it was more social and charitable in nature, rather than political.
