If you want to look good on the outside, you must also feel good and be good on the inside. Our practice is really tailored to that [philosophy].

I decided to start Spa Nova to integrate that with a little bit of the medicine. [Ted] decided a couple of years ago he wanted to go into research regarding the anti-aging medicine. My husband is fully qualified, board certified and has been invited as an international examiner on the subject.

At that time, Ted was 23 years old, a doctor at London University-Kings College of Medicine. He was looking for opportunity internationally, which brought him to South Africa. After we met, we got married, and then the doctor was invited by Yale University to come to America.

Marie Curie is my hero. Few people have accomplished something so rare - changing science. And as hard as that is, she had to do it against the tide of the culture at the time - the prejudice against her as a foreigner, because she was born in Poland and worked in France. And the prejudice against her as a woman.

Laugh at yourself, but don't ever aim your doubt at yourself. Be bold. When you embark for strange places, don't leave any of yourself safely on shore. Have the nerve to go into unexpected territory.

No man or woman of the humblest sort can really be strong, gentle and good, without the world being better for it, without somebody being helped and comforted by the very existence of that goodness.
