If you look at the advertisers who frequently use newspapers, it's like a hospital ward. Auto dealers, retail, the airline industry -- it's a pretty weak group.

That prevents buyers from cherry picking the best assets they have. And if the board is going to be intransigent about selling the whole company, lock, stock and barrel, I think that's kind of arrogant.

The economy is probably more hot than cold at this point. The inflation measure will be the one to watch because that will be one of the key determinants of whether the Fed hits the brakes or steps on the accelerator again.
