If we had gotten to play our first games, it would have been better.

We need Ashley to win 15-to-20 games this season for us to be successful. That puts a lot of responsibility on her and our other pitchers, but she's got the size, the strength, and she's an athlete.

Teams that play games on Saturday, half of them win and half of them lose no matter how much everybody spends. The real finding is there is absolutely not a shred of evidence that if all major college athletic programs were to cut spending by, say, 25 percent or even 50 percent that there would be any reduction in the gains attributed to athletic programs -- financial, alumni donations. All of those gains would proceed on pace.

Playing these games helps you some with recruiting and with seeing the level you need to play at to make the NCAA tournament. But you really need to play one or two - not six or seven games like we have this year.

Our defense won the game. Offense can win you games, but to win the Big Daddy you have to play defense.
