If it's all about distribution, like we keep hearing, then this is a huge distribution channel that Schwab dominates. To do something encouraging them to go somewhere else would be foolish, and I think Schwab recognizes that. They are not stupid.

But it takes me away from my expertise. It's not intellectual capital, which is what we're allegedly all about.

It's been that way for years. Schwab is extraordinarily sensitive to that issue.

Everything was fair game. Hearing senior executives say things like, 'I want the people responsible for those features in my office early next week; I want to get to the bottom of this' was at least one measure of success from my point of view for the event.

These women came from an era where true love existed. Hearing their stories and seeing their lives, even for a brief time, was an incredible experience. Of the whole day, we were the most blessed and humbled.

The bridges are still intact.
