I'd heard of St. Bonaventure, but I don't think any of the children or the people in the community had heard of them.

Basically because of the hurricane we lost everything. We had no insurance. The tax base is totally gone. There are no businesses to pay taxes to fund things like Little League. This saved us.

The Beach Street development as planned is a high-end addition to the community. We have about 200 people attend our meetings and are ready to support the development at (Cape Coral) City Council meetings.

But young children with high fevers and elderly people with multiple illnesses should be evaluated in the ER or a doctor's office.

There are no community centers, no senior centers or youth centers. We have to serve all those purposes. We have become the community center, almost by default.

In our community we don't think of crime as being a big issue. We feel safe here. So this really shocks us that this would happen. And when you get that shock there are people who are vulnerable to having high stress or high anxiety in response to that.
