I'm disappointed in acting as a craft. I want everything to go back to Orson Welles and fake noses and changing your voice. It's become so much about personality.

Acting to me is always reacting.

Changing the form of one's mission's almost as difficult as changing the shape of one's nose: there they are, each, in the middle of one's face and one's character--one has to begin too far back.

Acting is not an important job in the scheme of things. Plumbing is.

Know your lines and don't bump into the furniture.

There's nothing fake about flipping over and landing on your back.
