I was just trying to project forward what it would look like after this season. Winning is important, but is not the sole reason we have an athletics program. I want to be competitive and we weren't being competitive, but there were other issues.

We weren't really trying to go that hard. We didn't care about winning or losing; we just wanted to have some fun and play to the crowd.

Once you start winning, ... you don't want to stop. You don't want to lose.

This was not his best distance, but he was trying hard the whole way. … He galloped out real strong, and he came back really strong. I think he's back. He never gave up. I'm very happy with his effort.

The next four weeks are huge for us, in terms of trying to have a winning season. Gibson Southern (1-2) is playing real good football right now. They are obviously playing great defense and they are a much-improved team. We are going to have to get a lot better real quick.

You are really just trying to work on fundamentals and even if you are winning 9-0 sometimes, like last week against Armijo, they make you work for it, ... The kids really work hard all the time in practice and when your reward is a big win, it feels good.
