I was at the University of Barcelona in Spain when the Spanish Civil War was starting in 1933 and that's where Howard Hughes found me. I was there for the Santa Maria and for the first flight out of New York, the Cardinal Spellman. After four years I came back to the states and flew internationally, and picked up a PhD in physics.

It's all interesting and crazy you know, how we met here three months ago and just began talking about old times with Capt. Hamilton Fish again. We were in the first group then, known as the 'Army of the Best.' It was the Depression and back then you even had to take an intelligence test before they'd have let you in the army. Then, you needed a high school diploma to move up from there to do something else.

We are in discussions with the University of Oregon and our television partners about the possibilities regarding the Civil War.

A move to Division I will increase the exposure of the entire university, not just the athletics program. Recruiting will be a little easier, because of the national recognition NCCU will receive from being Division I.

When it came time to go to the University, it was during the war.
