I want to give something back. Not as many African-American or inner-city kids are playing baseball as they used to. I want to help provide an opportunity for them.

I've always wanted to open up a baseball facility and be a mentor to kids.

As far as African-American lieutenants, I believe I am the first.

There's definitely a growing gap between African-American culture and baseball. The doors Jackie Robinson worked on opening may not be closing, but the hinges are definitely getting rusty.

It?s good because the kids get an appreciation for African-American history.
