I think we will eventually need to have an operating budget referendum but the problem is I don't think voters will go for it until we've changed how we handle the budget that we have.

People who feel that things are going well will vote for Juan.

There is an absolutely opaque wall that starts with the district administration and extends to the board on what is the best way to do things, We're not being told everything we need to know.

There's one more member on the board who's going to be asking questions and looking for creative solutions as opposed to (saying) we can't do anything.

There are a lot of children in our schools who would really benefit from getting the sense that adults in society value them and their potential and want to help them succeed.

The program really sounds good. But it's going to come down to some tough questions, like who decides whether somebody has violated their pledge contract and (whether) the standards are being enforced uniformly across the state.
