I think they provide a necessary service, particularly to smaller hospitals and smaller communities. We've thought about it, we've contemplated it, but it's not the format that fits us yet.

We're looking at ways to get creative about how we can do the management of the calls. It's a fairly significant issue we are facing with the increasing volume of work and the aging population. The number of radiologists being trained is not meeting the need.

Our presence on site on a daily basis helps our physicians with their diagnostic dilemmas. If you don't provide the service, someone else will.

Hospitals and physicians historically have not done a good job with customer service. But there's a sense at some of those hospitals that we need to change because our competition is changing.

It's not uncommon in this county for existing hospitals not to have enough beds, and we're not even into flu season yet. Anybody who is opposed to a new facility is outright saying that they don't see the bed shortage as a real issue.

We've had to see patients in the hall, and every shift we call hospitals to see what their availability is. The answer almost uniformly is that they're full.
