It's not much of a surprise that the job has been given to him. Pretty much since Day 1 on the job a couple of weeks ago, he's been working on that file.

Instead, he killed people by lying and concealing the plot ... that resulted in the worst terrorist attack in the country's history.

This is an important meeting for his administration. He'd like to show there's a new tone to Ottawa-Washington relations.

A longer campaign would tend to attract more candidates.
