I think the government feels it's too politically sensitive. I don't see it as a realistic prospect for a long time, given we've just passed the Human Tissue Act. So, we still have the shortfall, hence discussions about buying organs.

There's sympathy for that position. People think it's a defensible way to address the shortfall for transplantation. It's not a crude two-way process between individuals. People argue you could develop a brokering system within the NHS that could act as a third-party and control prices and make sure everything was safe and fair.

I don't see Fiat (Auto) disappearing overnight, not least because no one wants to acquire it and the Italian government won't let it suddenly go under, but we may see a fairly rapid decline and its demise certainly benefits the rest.

The best reason I can think of for not running for President of the United States is that you have to shave twice a day.

We are not going to be held at ransom by court cases. The Government is determined to open the sector to as many players as possible.

It really points out to government and hospital administrators that it's not all about financing. It's about people's lives, and it's the right thing to do.
