I think he is the best field coach ever. He takes his time with each athlete and gets to know each one of us. He works with us at our own pace. He is a demanding coach in his own kind of way and makes you get better. I'm just happy he's my coach.

I really surprised myself in the javelin, getting a personal record. I beat my old record by about 14 feet. I was happy with my performance.

I started lifting weights last summer, so I am improving with the shot put. That has always been one of my lesser events that I didn't care for in the past. It is a challenge for me, and I see that I'm getting better and more consistent. It is definitely a challenge trying to balance competing in three events during a meet.

This is something everybody can do. And you don't even have to do the 30 minutes all at one time. If you fit in three 10-minute walks, get another 2,000 or 3,000 steps, that's great. You are beginning to get close to a healthful dose of physical activity.

Loggerheads spend a long time out at sea, but green turtles don't spend as long, maybe two or three years in this open-ocean existence.

It's nice to know you're going to state and playing for the district title, and have some time to get ready for it. I'm real proud of the kids, especially for this group of seniors. It's the biggest win they've had in their careers as a group.
