I think, actually, if you want to know where Roberts is on a lot of stuff, Rehnquist is a good place to start,

I think John Roberts always was the front-runner for the Rehnquist seat. I would guess that Roberts has been the choice for some time. The only curve was that O'Connor was the person (to retire), not Rehnquist.

And if it comes to a point where he says, 'I can't do the job,' then I think he'll just quit. But we don't know if he's at that point yet.

Liberal justices like Thurgood Marshall and Ruth Bader Ginsburg think as highly of him as someone like Clarence Thomas. I think that's a testament to the respect he enjoys.

It's hard to imagine a choice more similar to Chief Justice Rehnquist than John Roberts. They both love the law and they both are among a handful of the most intellectually accomplished legal minds.

But I loved making 'Eat Pray Love,' and I loved working with Julia Roberts.
