I really wanted to tell a Seattle music story.

Women seemed to be very prominent in the story of Seattle's music heritage. It's one of the things that really stuck out with me -- women firsts.

I make dance music, or disco, ... And dance music isn't really about anything. I can tell if it's working: Å’Are people dancing? Yes.' Then I've achieved my goal.

I remember being real concerned about the music and singing -- that's something we were both concerned about -- and Jim said if people want to hear Johnny Cash, they can get a Johnny Cash record, he's made a few.

I'd just call it modern music done in a retro way, that's all.

It's really music. It's not just ringing bells.
