I really feel like people do this work because they can't find anything else to do to make ends meet.

I don't think we're at that point right now.

There are some real needs of our citizens and it's not always alcohol and drugs, it's basic necessities. If we stop this, we are putting them in a very precarious situation.

When we're growing up there are all sorts of people telling us what to do when really what we need is space to work out who to be.

It's hard enough to work [an overnight] shift and then to have to worry about people coming into your store and threatening their lives. It makes it very difficult.

The trade is locked into the West Coast - alternatives are limited. Work actions are bound to have an impact.
