I pretty much taught myself how to cook. My mother was a great cook, but she was a '50s cook.

That contest was a real challenge. I don't really cook with convenience products.

I was kind of a frustrated cook. Being at home with the kids I wasn't working so I thought what if I enter a contest and win $50,000? Wouldn't that be cool. So I just tried it.

That got me hooked. I found I had so many ideas. It's kinda addictive when you win something.
