I planned to stop in 2002 after the Salt Lake City Olympics. I felt able to remain competitive another four years, and I wanted to stop while I'm still at the top.

It was necessary to organize my career to remain at the top level until Salt Lake City.

After how well things went in Salt Lake, everybody really wanted to get [to the Olympics] badly. So it pressed everybody to really lift their level.

Honestly, it feels much more diluted than Salt Lake. Almost like it's a big city that is hosting the Olympics, but it's almost an afterthought.

We had 34 podium finishes in Salt Lake City and 75 top-eight finishes. We expect this team to do very well. We're not going to predict how many medals we might win in these games.

I'm happy to belong to this group of top champions having excelled here.
