I like to see traditions like this continue, and I'm going to be here to make sure it does for as long as I can. It's a part of Bartow, and I'm so glad I can have a hand in it.

I love the tradition of it. I think tradition is important at a time when we are losing interest in traditions. It's a simple thing, but people really enjoy it.

The Garden Club had sponsored it, but they voted not to do it any more because some members didn't like the idea of burning the trees. They wanted to see the trees turned into mulch.
