I just want to thank Lori. Our whole family revolves around my dad. Now that he's well, my whole family is going to be stronger. And a lot happier.

I urge residents to take just an hour out of their busy schedules to make a family emergency plan and prepare an emergency kit. The severe thunderstorms and devastating tornadoes over the weekend were a sobering reminder that emergencies can affect anyone, anytime. Being prepared to act quickly and having plans and supplies in place can eliminate some of the stress in a disaster situation.

They called each other family and that’s what they were—sisters. Many people in the world had family of the heart, kin by choice rather than by blood, and hers had come along in her darkest hour and saved her life.
