I have no ax to grind. I was lucky. I played. How many guys play high school, college football never play pro football?

I'm not like some guys who, if the Ravens lose, are ready to jump off the top of M&M Stadium. There are other things in life besides pro football.

Through high school, college I've always been known as a heady football player. (At Michigan) we ran a very NFL-style defense and my defensive coordinator and linebacker coach (Jim) Herrmann threw a lot at us. He made me a student of the game and made me think and showed me the ins and outs.

The same boys who got detention in elementary school for beating the crap out of people are now rewarded for it. They call it football.

I think if you're a good high school player that you have the ability to be a good college football player. If you're a good college football then you have the ability to be a great NFL player.

Unfortunately, there are no mulligans when it comes to pro football contracts.
