I have decided to resign after the governor expressed his inability to convene the assembly again on technical grounds to enable me to move the trust vote.

I am satisfied with my performance in the last 20 months. I have no regrets for losing power. Power may come and go.

I am not a person who will cling to power. Considering the totality of circumstances and with the Governor pleading inability to grant more time, I have decided to resign.

I am ready for any eventuality. As a disciplined soldier of the party, I have no hesitation to quit if the party high command desires. It is for the party president (Sonia Gandhi) to decide.

I will not step down.

The intention is to create fear and demoralization.
