I expected to have to fight with the federal government. I didn't expect to fight with the state. It seems public assistance has been more like a public adversary.

We were told by state emergency management director Jack Colley, 'Do what you need to do to get your county up and running. We did that. We used generators to get our water system running again. But after the fact everyone started coming in and picking nits and suddenly they weren't going to pay for these things.

I don't know where they came up with that number. We had a contract that stipulates a $25-per-day rental, $25 per service of each unit and $25 if the toilet is moved. That doesn't add up to $150.

If passed, the HR 4437 would permit the government to prosecute almost anyone who has regular contact with an undocumented person by broadening the definition of alien smuggling to include family members, employers, and immigrant advocates. These provisions are likely to drive undocumented immigrants further underground and increase their vulnerability to exploitation.

Seem like to me our government is taking every advantage -- taking every opportunity to increase these gas prices.

It isn't the oceans which cut us off from the world -- it's the American way of looking at things.
