I don't think I was anxious, ... I've always been a very aggressive hitter. When I make outs with pitches out of the strike zone, it's something I've done my whole career.

I always swing at bad pitches, ... But lately I was swinging at even worse ones.

You would be amazed how many important outs you can get by working the count down to where the hitter is sure you're going to throw to his weakness, and then throw to his power instead.

Sometimes, when you get a pitcher throwing as many pitches as that, with the next hitter, they try and stay in the strike zone more and not waste as many pitches, ... I guess that's what happened.

It is very comforting for our pitchers to know that the pitches they throw for outs - they'll get outs. We've been getting some above-average defensive play out there, and the success of our pitching goes hand in hand with the success of our defense.

The mark of a good hitter is sometimes knowing when not to swing. We didn't chase bad pitches and allowed them to help us score runs.
