I don't even own a television. I don't watch network television.

A big reason why I'm not a big TV watcher is that in my formative years as a viewer, there wasn't that much great television on, or at least, television that appealed to me.

It is hard to watch myself. I'm hypercritical, and it's difficult to watch a performance when I may end up being at odds with it - wishing I'd done something differently or that they had edited it a certain way.

We don't ask the actor playing James Bond what his sexual preference is. So I don't know what it is, really, with trying to out actors who portray gay characters on television. But it is some sort of fascination in society.

I couldn't even get an audition for network TV at home in Ireland.

If you're looking at network television to see a good cross-section of our community, you're not going to find it. What you will find is primarily gay white males.
