I do not believe it will be helpful to the (WTO) talks to make a further offer on agriculture, because this would simply further unbalance the negotiations,

We are strongly committed to bringing everything together for Hong Kong, including for agriculture,

There is progress in agriculture, even though we are still looking for further commitments from others. However, this progress is not matched in industrial goods or services. This lack of balance is a real problem and points to the ground we need to make up at Hong Kong.

Simply demanding more in agriculture...does not add up to a serious negotiation,

The Commission is considering making an offer on the agriculture negotiations but no decision has been taken. There will be no move today.

We will not succeed, in Hong Kong or after, if we continue to focus on only one part of the round. We cannot afford to wait again. When the finishing line is in sight, it is the time to quicken our pace.
