I always try to make the music that I like and think my fans will like.

You have to be tough-skinned and willing to accept criticism, and at the same time, just try to do music that you like and you are proud of and not just whatever you think it's going to take to get you on the radio.

The album is very naked. I've had some fears about how my fans will react to my music. Besides that, it's been six ... years. Will (fans) be checking for Eric Benet?

A couple of years ago I recorded some tracks with Rich Harrison. But none of that music will appear on my new album. I have a tight rein on all of the music that has been recorded.

The music business doesn't take up that much of my time. I probably should put a little more energy into it.

I try to be as fearless as possible. I don't always succeed, but I like to think I try.
