Humanity fears what they don't understand. They first try and destroy what they don't understand with violence or denial. Then they try and control it through slavery, imprisonment, exile, laws, bigotry, or misinformation. Then they finally try to understand it though science, education, observation, communication. This pattern repeats throughout history and in the modern day on almost every subject. It is not until we learn to invert the sequence that we start to become enlightened.
