Historically we do not draft safeties high. So many guys that stay that extra year bear out so much better.

This was in the late 1950s, and we held the draft in Philadelphia because that's where the commissioner, Bert Bell, had his office.

Guys were making the extra pass. I was open and knocked them down. We wanted to stay aggressive.

When you come in as a high draft pick, you do have a lot of pressure put on you -- not necessarily thrust upon you by your own team, maybe outside sources that have expectations.

We've just got to get over the hump here. You've got to bear down and not let guys get chances like that. We just can't let guys get those chances. Good teams don't do that, and it's frustrating.

Last year, I don't know if it was an aberration or not, but you had 19 or 20 guys we rated as solid corners who went on the first day of the draft. I watch how many guys at each position go. Generally speaking, you would see in the first day 12 to 15 corners go.
