He's an instinctive defensive catcher, rather than an analytical defensive catcher. I think he's confident he can do anything without over-analyzing. He's a see-the-ball, hit-the-ball type guy.

He looks, acts and is built like a catcher. Is he going to be a pitcher that hits 90 mph? No. How about the outfield? He's got average high school speed with a decent bat. But can he throw a 2.0 to second, pop-to-pop? Yes. He's got a Division I arm behind the plate.

If you watch the game, you know why. He's the best defensive catcher we have had here. Defensively, he is a playmaker . . .

I try not to think about [the homers] or get too analytical about it. It is what it is.

I think it's important that the catcher realize that even if you think something is going well and it really isn't but you're convinced it is, that he still try to get you through the game when things aren't going well.

They (the Comets) made some errors, but they had some great defensive plays. We did some good things, but we can fix a few fielding and mental errors.
