He was a pleasant surprise last year. They said his bat was not that good, and he did an outstanding job for us. Defensively, he's good. He plays the game hard, he's a smart kid. I think he's got a chance (to play for the Devil Rays).

He's been doing that ever since I've known him. Thank God he hasn't hit anybody.

He is more relaxed. When you first come to a new league and start in a hole, it's tough to get out, especially for a young guy. Getting sent down and back up is tough.

We had chances to get more guys home. Give their pitchers credit. They also made big pitches when they had to.

Nobody wants to be the oldest guy in the clubhouse, but everybody has their role. Everybody has their chance. It's like I tell them: As long as you've got a uniform on, you've always got a chance to play in the major leagues. It's not a big jump from here.

He was a dark horse. Nobody expected it. Hopefully, he pitches there for 10 years.
