He that lives upon Hope, dies fasting

Trouble springs from idleness, and grievous toil from needless ease.

Idleness is the greatest Prodigality.

Idleness and pride tax with a heavier hand than kings and parliaments. If we can get rid of the former, we may easily bear the latter.

The best of all medicines is resting and fasting

If a Man casually exceeds, let him fast the next Meal, and all may be well again, provided it be not too often done; as if he exceed at Dinner, let him refrain a Supper, &c.
