He said he went to the area where the shooting occurred and saw the victim's body lying in the roadway and called police.

When our officers arrived at the scene, they found a black male lying in the roadway. He had been shot multiple times.

We received information that he was in the Roosevelt Homes where he frequents. Our officers went there and arrested him without incident.

He said he had messed up.

He said his girlfriend accused him of eyeballing the clerk on duty at a liquor store in the 1200 block of State Street where the victim had gone to buy his girlfriend some balloons.

The suspect became angry and began cutting the victim. It appears that she sustained a wound to the top of her head and on her left arm while the victim was attempting to defend himself. She was taken to the hospital, treated and released.
